The name "Dasher" is from our family dog.  My wife, Debbie and our young daughter, Delana were not too fond of dogs.

 

So, one year Santa Claus brought the family a puppy.  Our daughter said since we all had "D" names his name had to start with the letter "D" and be Christmassy.   We had a list of names and settled on "Dasher"
